Manheim was laid out by Henry William Stiegel in 1762 on a land tract in Rapho Township, though it wasn't incorporated until 1838. The borough was named after Kerpen-Manheim, Germany. The first railroad train came into Manheim on January 1, 1862, with the completion of the first division of the Columbia and Reading Railroad. In 1884, the Manheim Electric Company set up a plant in Bomberger's Mill at the end of Mill Street. Manheim has a hot-summer humid continental climate (Dfa) and average monthly temperatures range from 30.2 °F in January to 74.9°F in July. History
Manheim was laid out by Henry William Stiegel in 1762 on a land tract in Rapho Township. He set out to build an industrial empire and founded the Manheim Glassworks. After financial failure, he was forced to sell the development in 1775. After several failed attempts at resurrecting the glassworks, it closed in 1780. The first railroad train came into Manheim on January 1, 1862, with the completion of the first division of the Columbia and Reading Railroad. The Manheim Electric Company set up a plant in Bomberger's Mill at the end of Mill Street. In 1884, another forward step was the laying of water pipes and the beginning of service by the Manheimer Electric Company, which set up its plant in 1884. The city was incorporated in 1838, though it wasn't officially incorporated until 1838. It is located on the banks of the Susquehannock River, which runs through the center of the town. The town has a population of about 2,000, with most of its residents living in the central part of the city. It was once the site of one of the largest coal mining operations in the United States, but has since lost much of its coal production to the city's surrounding area. It also has a number of historic landmarks, including the Manheim Castle, which was built in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and the Rapho Tower, which is located in the town's eastern part.

The area has an area of 0.04 square miles, or 1.24 km², with 0.01 square miles of that area being water. The town has a population of 1,081. It was founded in 1883. The city is located on the Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Line, which runs between Lancaster and Lebanon. It also includes the towns of Lititz, Mount Joy, Lebanon, and Mount Joy-Lebanon. It is the only borough in the state to have a post-secondary degree program offered by the University of New York at Geneseo and the College of Staten Island.

Kreider Farms offers tours where visitors can watch approximately 1,700 dairy cows being milked. The Manheim Community Farm Show is held the first week of every October at Memorial Park.
