Ferriday is a town in Concordia Parish, which borders the Mississippi River and is located on the central eastern border of Louisiana, United States. With a population of 3,511 at the 2010 census, it is an African-American majority town. The town claims to have produced more famous people per square mile than any other in America. The Delta Music Museum in the downtown historic district is open daily to visitors, many of whom come from out of state. Its sports teams are known as the Trojans to the right of the rear of the high school. It is one of the few places in the United States with a population over 1,000 with a middle-class residential area of the town of 15,000 people or less. It has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.2 km²), all of which is land. It was integral to the promotion of blues music through Haney's Big House lounge in the African-Americans community. Almost every Delta Blues musician played at Haney’s. The private Huntington High School, first established for all grades in 1970, was located in a middle class area of residential area. The high school is located off the back of the Louisiana Highway 15, which runs through Ferriday. The school has a private library, the Huntington Library, which is located in the back corner of the school. The public high school, Ferriday High, was established in 1970 and is the first in the parish to have a private high school of all grades.

Ferriday High School is located off LA 15. Huntington High School, first established for all grades in 1970, was located in a middle-class residential area of the town. Bryant Hammett, a former State Representative, graduated from Huntington in 1974. The Central Louisiana Technical Community College is located in Ferriday. The Concordia Parish School Board serves Ferriday, as does the Ferriday Parish Library. The Ferriday School District is part of the Louisiana School and Training Board, which also serves the town of Concordia. The school district was established in 1872. It is one of the oldest schools in the state. It was founded by white parents who withdrew from the public system when its schools were desegregated. It closed in 2010 and was replaced by the Delta Charter School, which opened in 2013 in Huntington's buildings.
